Northwoods Hearty Home Cookin' & Saloon in Crete, Illinois was opened on February 2nd, 1998 with one mission in mind. To recreate, as best as we could, the feel, the heart, and the wonderful meals of The Great Northwoods of Wisconsin that we loved. To that end, we drew from recipes that were typical of those that Grandma Jacobs would prepare in Three Lakes, Wisconsin along with favorites from local "supper clubs". We created a diverse menu of comfort foods that were named to pay homage to the little towns and points of interest Up North. Finally, we wrapped it all in the cozy and intimate little "Wisconsin Lodge" you see today.
